Beautiful Amelia Martha, Ii love her to bits, I finished her last night and am afraid to say she hasn't been out of my sight since.

She is made with Upholstery offcuts a little bit of ribbon and a top that Ii used to wear that I couldn't bear to throw away. Amelia Martha looks perfect in her little pink paisley dress, Unfortunately this little one is not for sale as I couldn't bear to part with her. Although she did go walk about at work today and I nearly lost her to a couple of my work mates. I will be finishing more little girls over the next few days stay tuned for more uploads.

Amelia Martha was named for a beautiful friend at work's Grandmother.

I've been working on Bek's wedding album. these photos are not the easiest to scrap but I really want to do them for her. (strange I know). I am enjoying doing these pages, i guess in a strange way it's therapeutic. Bek getting ready at the hotel, we had to start so early, she looks so beautiful.

This one is of Mum and Bek, I love the beuatiful look on Mum's face as she looks at Bek, you can see how much she loves her, this is such a special photo for me. Can you believe that these photos were taken by my cousins little girl Taylor i think she was 9 or 10 at the time.

And gorgeous Narelle! She would have been a much better Maid of Honour than I was. I really had no clue what i was doing, Bek had to keep telling me to fix her dress, in the end i think she just gave up and Narelle looked after it for me.

This one is not from Bek's wedding, can you imagine ha ha. This is Conor at Adam's 40th in June, he came up with the costume by himself, and he won the competition for best Superhero, I think he looks gorgeous too.

I’ve been looking for a satchel to make for the markets, I thoughtthis was it but alas it’s not, it’s just not quite right. Nana Rugs, growing a gorgeous stash as I go through Nana's craft stuff that she gave to Beka and me, it looks like I inherited them all.

Conor used one of these when he went to childcare to keep him warm and he loved it heaps and we still have it somewhere.

I'm hoping to come across 4 of the square ones of about the same size so I can crochet them all together and make one big, beautiful Nana rug.

I'm not sure what I will do with the round ones, maybe I can make cushions from them, that would be fun.

Meet Millie, she's very cute and cuddly and ready to play

(Millie has sold but we are taking orders, BUT no 2 dolls will be the same, this way you will get your very own cuddly doll.)

Millie is the first of our dolls for sale over at Q-Monkey Designs. And we are so excited that she sold so quickly. We are madly making more little dollies so everyone can have their very own piece of cuteness. All the dolls are upcycled/recycled which means they are made from op-shop finds and furnishing fabric samples.

If you would like to have one made in specific colour let us know and we will see what we can do.

NB: please note Millie is not my design but the design of a very talented lady from one of my homespun magazines.

Yay today's challenge was perfect.

For afternoon tea at work we had these yummy Cupcakes, there were so many left over I snaffled one for Conor.
Mum came over today to give Conor a driving lesson, she also let loose on the dog, little Haggy is looking very handsome with his haircut.

1. that I got up and got organized to see Sharon and Allan off on their cruise I was so excited for them to finally be going, i know they will have the best time and I have to say i am a little bit jealous, i so wish we were going too.

2. that I finally stopped sneezing enough to do some needlework and ironing, I am so allergic to spray on deodorant

3. that I finally found my pattern at Gardams in the city and Conor decided to make his jacket in black velvet rather than Blue since he can't find the blue anywhere

4. that Conor is comfortable enough to have his friends crash here after a party

5. that we had enough leftovers for dinner and neither of us had to cook

1. We finally cut Hagrid's nails, OMG what a drama, i think he thinks we're cutting off his foot, he struggles so much. But at least he'll stop falling over on the polished floors now. He's also had a haircut doesn't he look fine? 2. Conor is sick, he has a cold and his asthma is playing up
3. I missed the pharmacy it closed early, which is very frustrating, But Sue to the rescue! Sue (Our freiendly Neighbourhood Pharmacist) bought home some ventolin for Conor just in case!
4. Conor cooked Yummy Beef Stroganoff (from Master Chef) for dinner, I am so spoilt! either that or he doesn't like my cooking.
5. It's still raining! i have no clean, dry clothes, in fact i have given up on drying clothes! I am bringing in the washing damp and ironing it and putting it away, it seems to be working, well sort of.

1. Such a great day working with Kerrie, Sianne and Emily, lots of laughs

2. I was finally able to help Conor with his school work, it's hard now he's in Year 12 there's so much I don't understand but yay! I can print out surveys for him.

3. And Yoda came to stay for a holiday, so happy to have him here with us, it makes me feel closer to Bek. Do you spy the gorgeous foot cushion Mum made me for my birthday, I love them and Yoda seems to have laid claim to them immediately.

Hagrid gets very territorial when the other dogs visit ( and a little crazy). So when he saw me taking a photo of Yoda, I had to take one of him too, he even ran into my room to pose for me. So so funny.

5. and finally this pattern Mccalls 6166 which you can buy here, I've been looking for a tunic type top in case my favourite black one wears out and I think this might be the one.

Wednesday 18 August Happy thoughts

1. Coming home while the sun is shining!

2. Looking forward to Carbonara cooked by Conor for dinner yay!

3. Making it through a whole day at work, i so didn't feel up to it today, tired and recovering from a cold.

4. Getting a Free bus ride to work, gotta love it when the GoCard machine breaks down!

5. Knowing people missed me while i was away from work, as a temp you don't always think they care.

6. Yay! Conor washed Haggy, no more smelly, grubby dog sleeping on my bed. Can you believe how dirty that water is, Haggy is such a ragamuffin and gets so grubby rolling around in the dirt in the back yard. Can you see how unimpressed he looks, Hagrid hates having a bath.

7. and finally i finished my needlework, I made this for darling Bek, for her birthday this year, a little angel sprinkling star dust on the Southern Cross - this is how i like to think of her! I love you and miss you beautiful girl, i don't think I'll ever get used to not having you around.

A haircut - finally

He finally got it cut, woo hoo! I know Bek loved Conor's hair long but I'm sure she would be happy to see his beautiful face. And we finally can, which is so exciting and even Conor is happy to have this haircut. another crazy day of sewing and we did finally get the whole suit finished by about 12.30am. Conor just has the hem to do in the morning and it's all ready to go. conor tried on the suit tonight to make sure he was happ with the way it all looked together and he is, which is good because he would be wearing it anyway.

Sew here's Conor at 10.30pm last night madly sewing away on his suit jacket. Conor fell in love with a Hugo Boss suit at Myers in the city, when I wouldn’t buy it for him he decided to make it! And so the saga began. The formal is tomorrow night, at this stage he has a jacket with a silk lapel and no buttons and pants with a zip but no side seams. which could make for an interesting look, I'm wondering how his partner will feel about his outfit.

Here we are at 4am, ready to go out and start surveying, we ended up with quite a few more people than are in this picture, but we had a good mix of experienced outreach workers a few police officers and 3 of us without any experience whatsoever. Kim, standing in front has to be one of the most inspirational people I have ever met and I felt so lucky to be on her team. I was quite frustrated as I couldn't convince anyone to complete the survey this morning, we did end up doing 4 surveys but I got quite a few nos. I met a man who thought he didn't count as he wasn't going to be homeless anymore as he has bought a car to live in!

Monday 7 June

So I attended the Training and the launch of 50 lives 50 homes tonight, I was really nervous, I didn't know a soul, I felt very out of place. But it got worse, once we were in our groups and I joined Brisbane CBD, we had to talk about ourselves, omg! So my reasons for joining this project, there are a few, one of which is to give something back to St Mary's for all the support they gave our family, when Bek was dying, but the most important reason I had for participating was that I really feel like I'm at a point in life where I have to change what I'm doing and move away from the corporate world and do something that gives back to the world. Kim our team leader called it a crossroads, which is I guess the right name to give this juncture in my life.

On Tuesday, Conor and I were back to book covering, although it was a very tedious job and almost drove us nuts, we did have a lot of fun working together.
We also watched 3 seasons of Stargate Atlantis in a row, which was a lot of fun!

Conor and his car, it's finally here.
A photo of the beautiful Christmas tree at the Mater, I spent the day with Bek up at the hospital as she had round 2 of her Chemo treatment.
I was feeling a bit fluey on New Years Eve, so stayed home and finished reading my book, An Echo in the Bone another volume in the Diana Gabaldon Outlander Series of Jamie and Clare but I am so confused it looks like I have to start the series all over again.
I'm not sure what happened to December 30, but on January 1, we used Conor's Do nut maker for the very first time, and it was yummy! we made chocolate chip do nuts and I am afraid to say we ate them all over the next couple of days.

Here's Bek on Christmas day in her twirly whirly Christmas dress, she looks soo pretty. She is also wearing the little hair band that Sharon got her, it's lovely.

Slick was too well behaved to rip up the paper to get to the treat and Mum had to help Scooter and Clementine

Dec 28 - Dinner at Indus

So we all got together on Monday to have dinner together before Adam and Donna went back to Melbourne. We had a wonderful night, Bek declared it was her best Christmas Ever, and raved about the dhal. Mum loved the Dhal too while Adam enjoyed the Burramundi and the prawns, Jerry had a Vindaloo and was looking very flushed but it was a lot of fun.

Conor and I (below) I still haven't perfected the one handed photo shot.

Bek looked so lovely, Sharon gave her the little headband and it looks lovely on Bek.

Christmas Day catch up - It's all about Jerry and some Bek

I thought I'd put up some photos of Jerry and Bek, just in case any of the Fitzgibbons are reading today.

Still trying to catch up on my Christmas posts, Photos of Jerry and Bek at Christmas this year. We all got together at Bek and Jerry's for Christmas this year and woo hoo they have air conditioning, so we all had a lovely if somewhat cool day. The photo above is taken at lunch, Jerry got a new hat for Christmas from Bek!

We were running out of room at the table cos we had such awesome food, so we had to sit the ham on a stool next to Jerry, he looks a little besotted here. ( i forgot to mention that Jerry did some fantastic cooking on Christmas day, he and Adam did the Turkey and I'm pretty sure that the potatoes were all done by Jerry and they tasted awesome and even better there were enough for everyone to have at least 1/2 a kilo each.

And another photo of Bek and Jerry in their Christmas finery, Jerry gave Bek the sweet little dress.

See here is a photo of Jerry trying to keep his eyes open for the photo too funny. Mum got Conor and Jerry one of these each, so next time you see them both, they will probably be rolly polly, I am currently searching for low fat do nut recipes for them both so if you find some send them on thru.

Chocolate pancakes with Wildberry ice cream and Christmas Cooking

We finally had our traditional Christmas Breakfast today, albeit a little late. We didn't get to have breakfast on Christmas Day as I was still busy finishing off Christmas presents. I can't even remember what we ate for breakfast on Christmas day. So today we had Chocolate pancakes with wild-berry ice cream for breakfast! It was very good.
I also thought I'd take a chance to share our Christmas cooking. I had many plans for Cooking special Christmas dishes but ran out of time, i was so busy luckily Conor took over. He is such an awesome cook and did fantastic jobs of all the cooking we had planned. I did manage to get these little guys done, and I was so happy with how they turned out love them they are just too cute. The idea came from Elle's Studio Blog , The recipe was from one on the Tarisota blog by Mel Goodsell and the little tag came form The Scrap Heap.

Last year Mum and I had Christmas lunch at Rydges at Southbank and we had these gorgeous little Salmon Mousse's for a starter, I wanted to recreate them but had trouble finding a recipe until Christmas Eve when I spied one in the December Women's Weekly. Conor made the mousse on Christmas morning such a sweetie, (even though he hates salmon ), I also didn't have time to get the Salmon Roe, which was disappointing the mousse tasted great but would have been even better with the roe, maybe next year.
Conor also glazed the Ham this year on Christmas Eve, it was wonderful, he used a Maple syrup glaze and it tasted so good. We had some for dinner on Christmas Eve as well, with potato salad, an awesome dinner.
For his finale, Conor made this amazing ice cream cake requested by Bek, it was icecream layered with gluten free biscuits and cherries, topped with sprinkles of flake, the recipe for this came from the Dec Super Food ideas magazine, it tasted so good, and was gluten free as well so everyone could eat it.

A very quiet day at home after the madness of Christmas yesterday. Conor and I were both exhausted after having hay fever and asthma for most of the day yesterday, but we are all better now.
Conor spent most of the day making this little guy for one of his friends for a birthday present, it's his birthday today and Conor has gone off to a party, it's a sleepover as well so I am trying not to worry. Conor used a Gingerbread man template and was so happy with the way it turned out, it is the most adorable looking ninja, so cute.
And here's a photo of Conor all dressed up and ready to go to the party. I can't beleive how grown up he is and independent too.
The next photo is of us all and the aftermath of our Christmas present opening extravaganza yesterday, everyone was so thoroughly spoilt and we had such a wonderful day together.

The next photo is of Bek, this was her first day back on Chemo and to cheer her up and to help her get some rest in hospital, I bought her this gorgeous little eye mask from Kitten D'amour , she loved it. So Conor went to stay at Bek's tonight, which means i can cook myself a yummy Laksa for dinner. Conor will eat spicy food but prefers not to, so i thought I'd take advantage of his absence and cook a very yummy dinner for one.

These arrived in the mail yesterday, i'm so excited i can't wait to finish work and get stuck in to some light reading. I generally read one of these in an evening, which is a great way to spend an evening in summer with all the repeats and the lame shows on at the moment.

and a catch up photo, i finished this little guy on Dec 2, he's for my Christmas skirt which I'm hoping to finish any day now.

So, i'm adopting Ali Edwards blog posts prompts for awhile. Posting what i am thankful for, and today i am thankful for these yummy chocolate muffins, i wander who invented them and where they came from, i will have to look that up one day.
They were very handy today with Conor on a sewing Marathon, finishing his jacket due tomorrow for Home Ec assessment. he has worked so hard on this and has done a fantastic jobGo Conor!

Monday 5 October
On Monday in the mail I got my Qtea kit, i love these so much, they make such a lovely shabby/ephemera addition to my normal scrapping. i loved this little kit, cos not only do i love getting parcels in the mail BUT this kit is just so sweet, i love all the red in it!
Sunday 4 OctoberI managed to get a little bit more done on my gift for a special someone, I can't mention who in case they are reading this, so the embroidery is a little bit wonky but this really is my first attempt at French knots. I am very proud of it and i love how colourful it all is, with the gorgeous pinks.
Saturday 3 OctoberHere's Conor all dressed up for the YSA ball, he looks so good in his new clothes. Uncle Adam bought these for him for Aunty Beka's and Jerry's wedding, i can't believe how grown up he is these days.A close up of my beautiful Boy, he looks more and more like my Dad every day. And the shoes, the shoes are very important as they had to be just right, pointy, black leather slip ons. A shopping expedition with Uncle Adam was called for.

Dressing table (22/09/09)

So Flylady zone cleaning today was the dressing table in the bedroom, and woo hoo look at mine, so spotless and shiny. I feel so good each time I see this! and it's definitely made me want to do the rest of my room so fingers crossed.
So many things on this table make me smile, so i thought I'd give you a little run down:

The little angels behind the lamp, were given to me I think by Bek, when I was a teenager, they are so sweet and I love them heaps
there's a little lady bird keepsake box nest to that, that I was given as a child also
Then there's some gorgeous little trinket eggs that Beka gave me again for Christmas in the last few years
next is a gorgeous butterfly one again I can't remember who gave this to me
The next one is beautiful and holds all my hair ties, Alana gave me this one year for my birthday
in the front is my beautiful Lamp this is one of a pair Mum gave me, the other one got broken in December 2008 when Hagrid and Clementine were fighting under my bed, they ended up knocking the lamp off my table and it hit me on the head - very silly puppies!

Dust storm!

So it wasn't as bad as it was in Sydney, but oh my! i woke up at 8 am to news that a dust storm would be hitting Brisbane at around lunch time today. I kept an eye out as i was really curious to see what it would look like, i also shut all the windows and took an anti histamine as well just in case. So the top photo I took at about 11.30 am and the second photo was taken 10 mins later, as you can see there is quite an orange tinge to the sky and very hazy.
I had a bit of sneezing and definately felt stuffed up in the head so i ended up wearing a mask for most of the day. I even braved the outdoors at one stage, I was out of bread and milk and chocolate worst of all, so I did a quick dash to the Service station to stock up.

Haggy and Day 2 of our holiday

So Hagrid was very happy to see us when we got back form our Holiday, however I don't beleive he missed us very much as he was with Mum and Bek and all the other dogs, so he was very busy!
Mum and Bek were quite impressed with Haggy while we were away and think he is a very funny do altogether.
Unfortunately Mum forgot to drop off Hagrid's girlfriend when she brought Hagrid home and he has been very sad about this all week and has been missing his girlfriend so much. For those of you that don't know Hagrid's girlfriend is a pillow Mum made us many years ago, he is quite attached to her. Here is a photo of Hagrid without his little friend it's very sad.
Also Prayers today for my little sister who is having Surgery on her bile ducts. Hopefully it will give her some relief from the terrible jaundice that she has had for the last few months.

Day 2 of our Holiday
We woke up quite late, Aunty Leslie let us sleep in! not so much as NZ is 2 hours ahead it was still only 8am but definately time to get up. We were off to go shopping at Botany and meet Rochelle and the kids for lunch. Of course we had to take Mister!
First up we had to get Conor a haircut as the bob wasn't working for him. Conor was very mad at me for letting him have a bad haircut! I'm not exactly sure how this was my fault but!!!
Luckily he managed to explain himself to the girl who cut his hair and it turned out fine, although I'm sure Aunty Leslie wondered why we even bothered as he really didn't have much cut off.

Finally we met up with Rochelle and Jake and Maddy, we had a lovely brunch, sitting outside in the rain and the wind, (reminded me of the weather when i was living in NZ). But we couldn't go inside because we couldn't leave Mister outside. So we all huddled together and giggled!
We had a lovely morning wandering around with Rochelle and the kids and even had more coffee and cake, while Conor and Maddy went to the Lolly shop.

So today Conor and I spent a very restful day at home, Conor seems to have the flu and spent most of the day in bed, poor little bunny! He couldn't do any study because he only stops sneezing when he's sleeping or reading!!! I did another 3 loads of washing and worked on some Layouts for the newsletter. I also had my Nana nap again this afternoon, not sure how I am going to get back into the whole work thing, when i finally do find a job.

And I have started sorting through and editing my photos from the cruise/holiday we have just been on, which i am sure some of you are just dying to see LOL.

More tomorrow!! maybe!!

Home Day

It's getting a little chilly around her in the mornings, living in a Qld'er with no insulation to speak of will do that. The polished wooden floors are so cold on our tootsies in the mornings. But alas it is not quite cold enough to light the fire yet. Conor is modeling the very beautiful dressing gown he made a couple of years ago, so warm and snuggly. (please ignore the messy nature of our front room, the curtains are a Work in progress as i try to figure just how exactly i am going to use htat beautiful fabric
next up is me, this is my little breaky possie on the weekends, i sit and catch up on all my emails and drink my coffee ( ialmost didn't put this in as i look truly dreadful but i have been fighting with this cold for 4 weeks now and i will NOT give in)
This is my little crafting possie, well part of it, i could show you the rest but you would all run screaming from the room as it really is such a mess. also a sneak peak of an unfinished Layout for this weekend's newsletter.
And just to prove i actually do clean and don't just leave the vacuum cleaner lying around pretending that i do clean, here i am cleaning the windows, i do have to say though that i was overcome by the fumes of the bleach so was able to only finish one window.
Browning the chicken and mushrooms ready to go in the slowcooker for dinner, we had a Chicken Meditteranean casserole, V. yummy!
Conor mowing our mammoth back yard, this a neverending battle as our yard is so big and we have to mow every weekend to keep it up, because of the rains this summer, now i'm not complaining about the rain, i just think that a lovely concrete truck would fix this yard once and for all.
Part of my weekend ritual is to watch and throw away once and for all the old videos we have cluttering our TV cabinet, this one had a wonderful episode of Parkky on it that made us laugh and laugh. Rage was also on and i tried to introduce Conor to the wonders of Led Zepilin and Pink Floyd, he was totally unimpresse, "kids these days"!
For most of the Weekend Conor can be found in this possy, playing his Nintendo DS, or on the lappy, but he tells that the battery had gone flat at this time, so he had to survive with only one electronic device, it's a hard enough life!
These 2 photos of Hagrid were taken within the space of about 10 minutes. Here he sits quite placid while we watch telly, i think we were watching parky at the time, the next thing we know we here grawling and rough housing coming form my room, we were a little concerned i can tell you. So we race in to my room to find that the tissue box had attacked Haggy. hagrid being the big fierce guard dog that he is ripped into that tissue box and dealt with it most severely. ( we are'nt sure exactly what the killer tissue box was trying to do to Hagrid but we are convinced it was something terrible) ps so sorry for the photo being on the side blogger will not behave and i don't know how to make this the right way up:(
And finally Dessert, super easy and takes 2.5 minutes in the microwave and it was v. yummy. all you have to do is core the apple and stuff it with a mixture of mixed fruit ( we used sultanas), brown sugar and allspice, we ate them with a dollop of cream and they were really good, but next time i make them i think i'llput them in the microwave for 3 minutes they may just be a little more soft.
Not long after dessert i heard my book calling me so it was off to bed for me.

Off to the Fair on Sunday

Conor kept me company at the Stitches and Craft Fair which was just as well AS it was so disappointing a very bizarre set up and not so many exhibitors. In fact i went through the whole fair in under 2 hours, there was just nothing new and exciting. Nothing that grabbed me and made me want to pull out my sewing machine.
There was also very few people there, i guess maybe because of the Financial downturn who knows.
so this is my haul, i had so much trouble finding stuff to buy, i so hope the next fairs are better.

This one is of the ANZAC service this year at Yeronga, Stephens RSL put on the service each year and they get a really great turn out. Conor has participated every year since he started high school as part of the Yeronga school band. I am so proud of his commitment and dedication to this very special day. And I know my Dad would also be very proud as well.

This one i love to bits, on Thursday last week my first Ruby St Designs package came and i love it to bits so gorgeous so much yummy stuff, i can't wait to get more of these adorable little packages. The Scrap Heap Challenge for the newsletter was to do a LO of my Dream Holiday, well i really struggled to think of just one place but who can go past Paris!

How totally adorable is this little guy! Conor spent the day working on this gorgeous little jellyfish for one of his friends birthdays it is just too cute. And i was so happy to see him doing something creative instead of being attached to the Laptop as he normally is these days.
it was funny to watch him as all the peices were worked out mathematically, instead of just drawing them all up, what a cutie his is.

We spent the day quietly at home, i wanted to go to church this morning but woke up with a shocking sinus headache and have been struggling all day. I have been doing some scrapping and a lot of jobs around the house but pretty quiet and boring mainly.

I've been kept pretty busy trying to keep up with all the Layouts for the newsletter over at The Scrap Heap I'm still not ahead yetbut i'm getting there LOL, i'm also running out of product which i'm sure Conor would disagree with but it's true!
I love the new style of Challenges Judy set up they are so much fun and really keep my ideas flowing. You can see them hereif you are interested.

Here's the card i made for Audrey's Thursday card although i did get it all back to front LOL, but i think it still looks pretty good. I used up some of an old Aussle and my own handwriting!

and some Layouts, i love the way this first one The Rose turned out, sorry it is such a crap photo! i have loved this song by Bette midler since i was a teenager and the daily challenge prompt for the 2 Feb was flower. I wanted to use the photos of the Rose i took in 2007 when it first bloomed. Conor grew this for me when we first moved in here and i love it, he's such a sweet boy. i used some gorgeous Pink Paislee papers and made the little rose out of some ribbon i gathered into a circle and plopped the little rose button in the centre.I love this one of my gorgeous kind hearted boy as well. Every year since Conor started at Yeronga and joined interact he has participated in the annual Valentines Rose's day. All the interact kids sell the roses to the students at school and then on Valentines day they give them all out. This year the kids are raising money for victims of landmines and are hoping to raise enough money to help amputees buy prosthetic limbs.

This last Layout makes me Laugh whenever i see it. Conor on the day of his semi-formal last year. His hair was so wild, it was just so long and unmanageable, i tried to help him style it but as you can see i failed miserably!

Todays photo is of our little book haul we made today at Big W and Borders. I'm afraid we quite badly broke our rule of not buying books today. It's not that we have anything against buying books, we just love them to much and we have no room for the books we already have without adding to our collection. So the rule is we can't buy books, we have to get them from the library. Hopefully these should keep Conor busy for the rest of the week, although he has already finshed one of them 'sigh'!
A run down of this weeks reading:

Obernewtyn Isabelle Carmody - as soon as i saw this in Big W, i knew i had to buy it, i love this series so much and have already read the 6 books (i'm hanging out for the final installment). I had already decide to break my rule earlier this month and buy this series so when i saw it at Big W for $14.95, i had to have it, and i'm hoping 'conor will read these books too they are just so beautiful.
Rangers Apprentice: the Kings of Clonmel John Flanagan - one for Conor, i haven't read these so son't know anything about them except they seenm to be one of the latest series of books Conor is reading. No doubt now that we own one of these, i will probably read it, when I am desperately searching for something to read one night.
Necropolis: Welcome to the City of the Dead Athony Horowitz - and another for Conor, and again i know nothing about this series, the cover looks good though a very scary skull.
Artemis Fowl : the Graphic Novel Eoin Colfer - how we love Artemis Fowl, conor and I, we've read them all and Conor wanted to get this one for his little brother Kade for Christmas. As it's in comic style he thought it would be a fun way to introduce Kade to the Fairies and worlds of Artemis Fowl. However Conor also had another motive LOL and managed to read this little book this afternoon. (I'm just hoping I have enough time to read it before he wraps it as well.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard JK Rowling - well we had to buy this, we have every other Harry Potter book, although i have to say i'm quite relieved Harry's not in this one, as i really am rather tired of him.
Bon Appetit - not really a book at all, but a diary for me for 2009. i had to have this, i love this style of drawing, i have no idea what it's called (maybe Adam could help). As always with a new diary i can't wait to start puttin things in it and hopefully getting organised for next year.

2 Photos from Dec 1 , On Monday Bel and I came home to a fantastic surprise, Conor had gone mad and cleaned the house! And he wasn't finished there, he mowed the front lawn for me as well! Even though it was getting dark, so i had to take a photo for Tracey's challenge of my gorgeous lovely boy. Thanks so much babe!

I also managed to finish my christmas cards for the Christms card swap, i can't beleive how far behind i am in all my projects this year. So here they are......
please excuse the photo but i have ns photoediting software on my little laptop, Conor has said he'll put some on for me tomorrow.

I cheated a bit with the design for my cards, I signed up for the Jingle Bells series of classes over at Kim Archer Workshops at Home. I loved all the little projects and can't wait to do them all. I uploaded a heap of photos to snapfish today so i can finish another little project this week.

I've also been trying to catch up on my IT stuff at The Scrap Heap, but with the terrible week last week, i felt like i was in a losing battle. Hopefully this week will be different and everything will be completed.

Remembrance Day

I was so proud of these guys on Remembrance Day, the weather was terrible, they played in the rain and the wind, they were cold and miserable, but they did an awesome job.
It was truly a privilege to see the work they put in for this performance, they did their school proud and were amazing!

so here's the story, Conor and I went shopping to buy him a laptop for school, we were going to get him a little Dell mini, but he thought it would't be able to do all the thing he wanted it too, so we came to a comporomise and bought this little laptop so I could use it when Conor monopolises the big computer playing his games and doing his homework and Conor can use it for school. I'm having so much fun with it!

I'm so proud of this photo i took of Sharon, i had to zoom right in on her face as i was sitting about 3 rows back, so i had to zoom through elbow, shoulders and arms to get this one but i did and the phot turned out beautifully

last of all is my waiting shot! here is Conor at the bus stop on Saturday wating for the bus yet again! i have to stop getting Conor to look up the bus time table as he invariably looks up the wrong day, however this time he got it right the bus was just 1/2 an hour late incredibly

having a little play tonight because i managed to get home from work early, and Conor is cooking me roast chicken for dinner.

I am really going to be sad when he goes back to school, and we go back to the mad evening rush, it's so nice to come home to a yummy cooked dinner every night.

Anyway here's my puppy, most people would think that the greatest love of all would be for my child LOL and it is BUT the love this little guy gives us each and every day is unbelievable.

I made this clock for my brother for his birthday last month, i was a little concerned he wouldn't like it with all the pretty flowers on it, but he did woo hoo. the little quote in the middles says "Laughter is the sparkle of the soul"! such a gorgeous quote i thought.
I used the instructions provided in Beryl's IT kit from The Scrap Heap, but i don't think there are any kits left in the online shop.

Conor's injury!

It Doesn't look like much, does it?
Warning Gross picture following!but here it is without the bandage, you can see right down into the Subcutaneous fat/tissue ugh!

Conor cut his arm open on the hook (where you put your bag) on the toliet door in the Myer toilets on Saturday afternoon ( we were shopping for enormous shoes for his feet) so we spent about an hour in Myer while they first aided him and then we had to go to the doctor as they thought he'd need stitches
it was very deep and we could see his Subcantaneous fats (how clever am i to remember that word although i'm sure i spelt it wrong)
poor little bunny or big one as he is very tall, came out of the toilets in tears (it's been a long time since i've seen him like that)

but no stitches ( much to Conor's dismay, he thought stitches would be cooler!) the Doctor used Glue instead

So after much searching for something Long to show you i finally remembered the weeds we are growing in our backyard, they have gottena little out of control since our mower broke down a few weeks back but all is better now and we will get rid of these little beauties on the weekend but isn't it funny, they almost look pretty in this photo LOL

so whenever i think dairy this is what i see, i have not been able to have lactose since Conor and I had Rota virus about 12years ago! It used to be a lot worse but i find now i can tolerate small amounts of Dairy which means i some times get to eat another form of dairy CHEESECAKE woohoo!

How cute is this little bunny! Doesn't he have an awesome life, he gets to snuggle all day long while we're out at work and school, he doesn't do any jobs or anything! LOL

Some LO's i did this weekend trying to get all my Challenges finished, i'm so far behind!

Some very old photos for this aussle! I found a roll of film recently and these photos were on it , I haven't worked out how old they are yet, but they are pretty old from an Easter long ago LOL

I added some flowers from the little Making memories pack I got in my Pizza box this little kit is just so cute!

This one uses a Becky Fleck sketch, unfortunatly I cut 1 side of the circle last night and 1 side this morning and (sigh) used different templates, so it doesn't meet up! I am such a goose LOL

I only added the button, some bits of ribbon to fix up the circle and some thickers letters to this aussle, i love these!
so the circle is a bit askew!
these photos are of my holiday in Sydney last year, my sister and i caught the ferry to Manly for the Jazz festival, we had an awesome day!

This one is an Aussle the photos are from a trip Conor, Malu and I took on the Ferry last year on her last day in Brisbane

midnight visitor

ok so it wasn't midnight, early evening actually when we had one of these guys crawling across the front lawn.

There are a couple of international students in our street and we saw them following this guy (nicknamed Todd by Conor) down the street with the torch. By the time I got hold of the snake man we had quite a congregation outside our house. It was all very exciting but the snake man said he'd rather not, and not to hurt the snake (he was very worried i was going to hurt it) but if we leave it alone it'll just go away! All 7 feet of him, so to our neighbours dismay who are still sleeping with their windows closed i beleive, we let Todd crawl off into the bushes beside our house. We haven't seen him again but we keep a close eye on Haggy when he's in the backyard in case Todd thinks of having him for dinner.

i remember the ski club guys had to hold mum's gemini on the bridge crossing the little mulgrave, cos it was so light it started floating off down the river

i remember later that day we got back to Cairns and decided to go water skiing down the inlet because there was nothing to do

i remember the sea snake that curled itself around Dawn's ski when she threw it in to the water, she waited a little while and jumped in after it and went for a ski

i remember swimming in the flood waters at the creek on the way to redlynch

i remember getting a call from David that we would still be opeing at Playpen one night in the midst of a cyclone

i remember playing cards with Ross later that night in the midst of a cyclone

i remember taped windows

i remember not long after we moved to Brisbane in 1995 when it rained and rained, Bek had not long had her license and was driving all over doing supply teaching and i was so worried about her

i remember the train tracks being washed out and getting stuck in Mackay with Dad on the train, one little sleeper, one adult and 3 kids - we had to fly back to Cairns and Mum in a tiny plane

Conor and I took Mum and Susan out to dinner for her birthday. Mum wanted to go to Ahmet's at Southbank where they have belly dancing!

Bek, Conor, Jerry, Malu and i went there for dinner last year and had an awesome time. I was a little reluctant though as last time we weren't very impressed with the food, but let me tell you that the food this time was beautiful and we all enjoyed it heaps

i love this photo i took of Conor being silly with Gramma, Mum always closes her eyes in photos so Conor thought he had the solution LOL

and then there was the belly dancing, a beautiful blonde belly dancer, she was awesome and had us all laughing and enjoying ourselves, the highlight of the night!

So Scooter has come to stay while my Mum is on holidays, i took this photo not long after Scooter arrived and it's a bit of a 'stand off' here between the 2 dogs.

Hagrid is really not impressed with Scooter staying here and patrols the edge of the couch so Scooter can't jump up on it. Hagrid definantly treats Scooter as an intruder! if we pat or play with Scooter, Hagrid gets so mad and will often ignore us unless we pay him some attention. Hagrid really is very posessive dog to own, but we love him anyway!

so I had a day at home yesterday as i am completely exhausted!

I'm a little bit over my job atm as i have no time to do anything anymore, at least i'm sleeping a little better as the dogs are finally settling down and sleeping through the night.

I swear it's like having a newborn baby, only smellier LOL

I'm excited to be trying to keep up with my photo challenges so am trying to join in at her space my space again, 'sigh' i know i'm very bad at this but today i decided to schedule a time in each day to do it so here I am it's 8pm and I had a quick check for the prompt and woo hoo it's an easy one for me:

Today I started my third First Aid course at Queensland Ambulance, yet again I'm the office First Aider, but everyone is under strict instructions not to need any first aid during work hours, as I really don't want to have to save them, but I will if I have too!

It wasn't too bad, I think that every course I do I get a little better at making bandages and CPR, although it would help if they stopped changing the rules.

And while I'm here doing the blogging thing I wanted to share with you my photo for Jan 3 prompt which was white:

This is the fantastic wardrobe Conor and Mum found for me, after months of living in this house without a wardrobe, I had had enough and challenged Conor and Mum to find me a wardrobe for $100 and it had to be white to match my bedroom. And they did, they found it in an Op shop for $39 and then they painted it! Inside and Out how lucky am I! and I love it, it is so nice to have my clothes hanging and away instead of on the laundry rack thingy I had. Aren't they both so clever and my Mum who knows me so well insisted on finishing all the painting and getting it ready for me to use because I would just put it downstairs and wait till I got some 'time' to do it yeah right it would sit there for a very long time while I scrapped!

And did I tell you how lucky we were on Christmas day, after missing the first bus because it left early argh! Conor and I raced into the city and ran up the hill to Central with our little trolley of presents only to miss our train by about 5 mins. I noticed there was a Ferny Grove train leaving so I thought we could jump on that, at least that way we would be closer to mum's, but we arrived on the platform just as the train was leaving, we were sad!

BUT

the driver stopped for us! Can you believe what a sweetie he was/is. I almost lost my thongs hopping on the train which was pretty funny but we made it, we got off somewhere on the way to Ferny Grove and Mum picked us up.

and while it didn't feature any boxes, (really should look up the origins of that word!) and here's the meaning , it did feature painting, hammering and nailing.

we have a spare room under the house and we have been slowly getting it ready for Conor to use as a hang out like the basement room on that 70's show, although i am hoping that no dope smoking occurs in there. We've moved the old lounge suite down there and a rug, at the moment we are painting one of the walls for the home theatre. here's a photo i took earlier today as we were hammering the ceiling boards in place

so the room is a pretty decent size and Conor is pretty excited to have it all to himself, Mum's given him a microwave so he can make popcorn, we have plans to get a small fridge but will probably just wait and see what comes up on freecycle.

i have been busy today working on my little Christmas album, I decided to do one after seeing Ali Edwards one. i love her's and mine is starting to look kind of good too, i'll share soon i just have to print out a photo then i'll have a few completed pages to show you

Things have quietened down and we have moved into our new offices in West End, so life is getting much better and i've decided to get back into my photos on Her space My Space , so with the you are not behind just jump in where you are principle here is my photo for today.

The prompt for today is laces, so i get to show off my new corset that i bought last Friday night. It cost a small fortune but i love it to bits, it's just so pretty and feminine. i bought it from a shop in the city called Sex Kitten they have the most divine garments check it out.

I did this Layout last weekend of my little sister at the Manly Jazz festival, when we were in Sydney. She was trying to learn to skateboard, or relearn i should say as we used to do this when we were kids.' I really love this Layout it's so bright i don't usually do coplours like this.

woo hoo i have found a solution to my MSHS dilemma, i haven't had time to do this lately due to traveling to and from the temporary office, so i decided to do the photos in my luncha hour. This serves too purposes

1. i get to do my photos which i loved being a part of and

2. i have to stop work and have a break even if it is for only 5 mins

the downside is i have to find things to take photos of at work and i have limited soft ware on my computer so have to rely on my photo taking skills but hey i'm joining in.

Academic Award

Well here he is my beautiful boy Conor winning an Academic award for year 9. I’m so proud of him; he’s worked so hard to get all his marks up across the board instead of doing really really well in some and not so well in others. Conor is a little disappointed because he wanted to get a subject award, but I’m hoping one day he’ll understand what this means. To me it means he’s getting ready for Year 11 and 12 when he’ll have to be brilliant in every subject he does.
So Conor sweetie, I am so proud of you!

flourless orange cake

woo hoo i found a really great Recipe for a cake that Beka can eat

this cake was divine and we didn't even make the orange syrup ( i ran out of time)

Flourless orange cake with orange syrup

2 Valencia oranges
3 eggs
1 cup caster sugar
300g almond meal ( i only had 200g so i topped it up with some gluten free flour and still it tasted so good)
1 tsp baking powder

Orange Syrup
1 Valencia orange, extra
3/4 cup caster sugar

1. Preheat oven to 170 C. Grease a 22cm cake pan. Place whole oranges into a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins until tender. Drain. Repeat. Refresh under cold water and drain.

2. Coarsely chop warm oranges and remove and discard any pips, place into food processor and process until smooth.

3. Using electric beaters, whisk eggs and sugar until thick and creamy. Add processed orange mixture, almond meal and baking powder and gently fold until combined. Pour into pan and bake for 1 hour. Cool.

4. For syrup, remove peel from orange and cut into thin strips. Place into saucepan, cover with water and boil for 5 mins. Drain, returning water to pan and set aside peel. Squeeze juice from the peeled orange, and add to pan with sugar. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves and syrup thickens. Spoon over cake. Sprinkle with orange strips and serve.

here i am i'm back,
sorry i just haven't found the time to blog what with having to go to the other side of town for work sigh
plus i've been sick
i had a wee too much to drink on Melbourne cup, added to the truly dodgy food at the venue, i have ended up with a very bad case of food poisoning, was in pain for 5 days and thought "it'll just go away" uh uh Monday morning it hurt so bad and i was startin too feel very unwell so Mum made me go to the doctor and it turns out i have a Listeria infection in my intestines
which is so gross and really painful so have spent the past 2 days at home watching bad daytime TV and sleeping and i'm on these kick arse antibiotics
so it's back to work for me tomorrow sigh

well it's breast cancer awareness week and in honour of all the wonderful women and some men aho have fought this terrible disease i thought i'd join a challenge that Diana form Her Space My Space set on her blog

I know quite a few people that this disease has touched and my prayers are with you all so without further ado here's my LO tada..........

now i'm a bit of a prude so this is as good as it's going to get LOL, i had to do a crown on this because i've always wanted one y'see and now i've got one.

this is a lot embarrassing but i looked around the lounge room and this is my favourite place.

my scrapping space, i scrap on this little chest in front of TV on Friday nights and weekends usually watching murder and mayhem on telly the more gruesome the better.

My son is appalled at the mess my little chest is in and do i dare tell you that because i'm on leave the mess is spreading but what i love the most about this little chest is that it's on wheels and i can wheel it into the craft room to hide from people

sorry everyone
i have been a very bad blogger but the 3 hrs traveling to work everyday is doing my head in.
Thank god it's only for another 4 week and then we move back to West End AND i have next week off, a whole week, well almost i have to go in on Tuesday but only cos i'm such a control freak argh

this one was easy lol

i wanted to share my gorgeous little teacup, saucer and plate set my mum gave me oooh about 26 years ago 'sigh',

we found this gorgeous little set at a garage sale when we were living in New Zealand with my Grandma in Wellington, Mum and Grandma loved going to garage sales and most weekends would find us out and about searching for stuff (never can have enough stuff)

anyway when we were leaving to come back to Australia to live, we had our own Gargae sale and Mum put this little set out to sell, i was devastated not just because she was selling our stuff, but i really didn't want to come backto Astralia, i was 14 and had just had plastic surgery and really felt like i was finally fitting in after years of being teased (i looked different y'see, I had a birthmark on my face),

so i remember being really upset that Mum wanted to sell this little set ( funny how little things represent so much) so Mum being Mum and really quite wonderful saw that i was upset and gave me this little set for my glory Box ( do girls still have Glory Boxes these days)

well the end of the story is that i never got married LOL and i don't drink tea, so this beautiful teacup and saucer sit up in my cupboard for no other purpose than to make me smile everytime i see them

just a little bit of happiness i guess,

finally an Autumn post

well after spending almost 24 hrs trying to come up with an Autumn photo for yesterdays prompt, which i thought was way to hard in spring in Australia

I was checking my diary tonight for tomorrows events (go flylady - you rock) and last weeks quote in my gorgeous Jane Austen diary is about Autumn so without further ado here is yesterdays photo:

I'm feeling really tired and a little sad too, have heaps to do at work, last day in the project office tomorrow,
i've made some great friends on this project but we'll keep in touch on facebook
so tomorrow i have to pack up our office, for the move to Geebung for a few weeks and then we'll be back in West End which is very cool, i really love working in West End

I had a good day, went into the Sydney office and put lots of faces to names which was great, then checked out Balmain and tonight we're off to a party at some friends of Bek's in Balmain again

Bek and i went shopping for party prizes for games tonight which was fun, and we have planned some very silly games for tonight, pass the parcel, musical chairs and balloon races. v. silly

so here's my bath one, unused LOL, not sure if i will use it, it still makes me sad to look at it!

y'see this little old sponge has come all the way from Brazil, from my gorgeous friend Malu's parents farm, and i think of her whenever i see it and how far away she is now.

I miss her heaps, especially at work.

Smelly Dog

HSMS prompt for today is dog and what a perfect prompt as i am in the midst of giving smelly dog (Hagrid) a haircut.
So here is my gorgeous boy

If you look closely you'll be able to see how shaggy he really is, he hates having a haircut and it generaly takes about a week to get it done *sigh*

Also in the news today, he he he

Conor has gone to Melbourne to stay with his dad for a couple of weeks, he is also hanging out with Adam and Donna for a few days too, (he's got your birthday present with him Adam woo hoo)

we took this photo yesterday at the airport, Conor's dad (he would say he is a very smart man LOL), well he told us the wrong time forthe plane because he knows just how hard it is for me to get up in the morning, since we have previously missed flights! anyway we had a lot of time to spare at the airport so we took some very bad photos, (and i know any normal person would have checked the time on the ticket but he told me 10.10am)

this is the best of a bad bunch

and from this photo y'all can see just how sick i look LOL

why it is that I believed a smelly teenage boy that if he stayed home on the last day of school he would do all the washing cos he has no clothes to take to Melbourne cos i haven't washed them (i ony wash what's in the washing basket and Conor can't find it in our 2 foot by 4 foot bathroom especially since it is about 3 feet round - Ok so i exagerate it wouldn't fit in the bathroom with these dimensions BUT the point is it's really really big and the bathroom is really really small and Conor can't see it argh)

but i digress

ok Conor decides to stay home today to get the washing done so do i.......
a) get home to all the washing neatly folded and put away?
b) is it in a lovely big pile in the living room on my chair?
c) is it still hanging out taking advantage of this lovely sunshine? or
d) is it even in the washing machine?

argh
OK it was in the washing machine but since he only washed his clothes Conor didn't find the comic i put in the washing basket as a special treat for him for staying home and doing all the washing LOL

so yet again Conor will go to his father's and they will think that i never buy him clothes because he hasn't packed any because they are on the floor in his room
so they will buy him heaps of clothes so that they too can lie on the floor in his room argh!

what a day, seemed to be endless

i had to give in and finally take Conor to the Doctor and he had to go on antibiotics which really sucks and i got a lecture cos i keep forgetting to get his seratide refilled bad mother AGAIN

of course i missed my connecting bus and because i had to go to the toilet i ducked into the museum

aside( ok BCC - brisbane City Council- design note when you decided to spend millions of dollars on the freakin bus way where did you think we would go to the toilet huh, i mean it's ok after 10am cos the museum is open and at night i can mix with the stars at the Lyric theatre but what about if it's before 10am ) anyway enough of my rant

so back to the museum and the word prompt at HSMS for today was hang and there were literally millions of things hanging in the museum that i just couldn't decide what to photograph for you all but in the end i decided to get a photo of the plane

isn't it sweet, now i decided to get this cos i thought my dad might like he was an aircraft engineer only then i realizrd i had no idea what sort of plane it is, Dad would be able to tell me in a heartbeat i'm sure but........

so if anyone knows can they let me know cos i'm not likely to get back to the museum in opening hours for quite awhile, unless of course i'm very late for work again and have to go to the toilet

Music Concert

last night i got to go to Conor's school music concert, we were treated to perfomances by solo singers, vocal FX group, a string ensemble, the concert band and the stage band!

what a night so many talented kids! yet again i was impressed by the amazing work the music department i.e Cassandra has pulled together Yeronga SHS is so lucky to have her.

Conor played 7 pieces in all, which was quite an effort and i'm so happy to see how he is improving under Laura's tutelage

he hates this photo too says he looks like an idiot (he actually used another word that i particularly hate so i won't use it! no not a swear word just a yucky school yard word)

Honey Toast

Did i tell you that i've given up yeast!
I've been trying to eliminate some of the toxins in my diet and yeast was the first one to goand it did mke a differenceit's just finding the bread that is a little difficult albeit impossible, it either costs a small fortune or tastes disgusting. At the moment i have the most disgusting Rye bread but the life saver is that crumpets do not contain yeast woo hoo
Anyway as i was saying I'm home sick with this flu again and craving my honey toast comfort food, I just ransacked the freezer and found 2 slices of white bread so i have just enjoyed my first ever honey toast on white bread this month and it was delish (trying hard not to think about the freezer burn or just how long that bread had been in the freezer Oh dear)

Mon 27-8-07

so tired, what a day, i've been getting up early on Mondays so i can drop Conor at School by 7.30am for band practise, i do beleive this is a totally ridiculous hour to do band practise with sleepy kids BUT who am i to argue

So i was at work by 7.30 am what fun, the only bonus being that it is lovely and quiet at this time in the office and i can get a lot done.

I can't wait for tomorrow Malu will be back form New Zealand and Conor and I are spending the day with her before she goes back to Brazil for good this time - so sad

last birthday EVER

It's my birthday!!! and i am

so i figure if i never have another birthday i will stay 39 FOREVER lol, well that's the theory

we had a fantastic afternoon yesterday so much food and a great time was had by me and i think everyone else

I got lots of pressies will share a photo later

i only have 3 photos cos i didn't take any i was way too busy but Courtney, Malu and Amael had their cameras so i will get photos off them all tomorrow when i go to work

but i do have 2 photos to share ok may be 3

this one is the gorgeous cake Conor made me it's a chocolate Hedwig, served with RED jelly, Gianni pointed out that this cake was quite disturbing especially as we were eating him poor old Hedwig!

but didn't Conor do a fantastic job and he tasted so good!

this was a hard one, since we are in a drought in Brisbane and have no water, i looked into my back yard and everything was dead, even the grass is no longer there, the only thing that seems to be blooming in this drought are the weeds BUT i did manage to find this little bromiliad that Conor is growing woo hoo ( at least i think it's a bromiliad LOL)

Australia Zoo

So on Sunday Conor and I finally took Malu to Australia Zoo, it was fantastic!
I was the first time i had been as well so we had a great time, i was really impressed with the Zoo, and really think if you get the opportunity you should go it was so awesome
